William Morris Father of the Arts and Craft movement. like John Ruskin son of a rich guy, lets become craftsmen again so every one can have nice things in their home, its going to cost more but it is the first step. he even re thought his house and the importance of the rooms.
The things that stud out this class I thought where, The advancement of the press, John Hooper
and Thomas Nast. The advancement of the Printing Press was amazing in the 1800's. The Printing Press barley advanced in technology for a couple hundred years, but when the 1800's came around all the sudden the Printing Press was evolve like crazy. From a single cylinder steam engine, too a two cylinder one until you came to the Linotype machine. I thought it was so weird that the first Ad man John Hooper was not a design or very witty he was merely a broker, for news paper space. Thomas Nast that man made so manly huge american icons that we still use to this day. Come on, this guy made up Uncle Sam, the political symbols and Santa Claus how many people can say they have done that.

One of the things I thought was really neat from class woodtype faces. I that wood type wasn't made out of wood. Which is really neat to know that in fact the wood type faces where mad out of wood. I also was wondering how come they didn't use Bronze in there presses or use it as the mold of the letters?
The poster houses, man those places just seem like a big con on the graphic design world back than. Looking at the poster shown in class, just made the little type nerd in me laugh. I just got out of Type Class before History and when we say the poster I was thinking about what Dorian said about not leaving holes or big gaps, or stair stepper and all the stuff Dorian said not to do and the poster house did allot of them.
After all that, now Im kind of wondering who was involved in the rules of Typography? and where they just wigging out about the poster houses?
